Giving Societies

At Sheppard Pratt, we have several recognition societies to honor our most generous and loyal donors.  Recognitions include invitations to special events, donor wall and annual report listings, and regular communications.  Donations to any Sheppard Pratt Funds are counted towards your giving totals and giving society membership.

 

Circle of Friends -  Recognition of annual support

Regular annual gifts are the backbone of our fundraising efforts. They provide essential unrestricted support and are used to meet the needs of our patients and students. All benefactors who contribute $100 or more annually are recognized on a donor display in our Towson hospital. Power Plant Club ($1000 +)

The Power Plant, constructed in 1862, still serves as the mechanical hub of the campus. It accommodates physicians offices as well as the mechanical and electrical equipment serving our new hospital facility, The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Building.  Power Plant Club benefits include:

Casino Club ($500 - $999)

The Casino was built in 1901 as a recreational facility that would “lure the patients out of their rooms into the tonic of the fresh air.” There, patients could engage in a wide variety of games, sports and therapeutic activities. Today, the Casino serves as the recreation facility for University Village, a premier student housing complex for students from local colleges.  Casino Club benefits include:

Windy Brae Club ($250 - $499)

Windy Brae was built in 1904 as the private home of Sheppard Pratt’s Superintendent. To accommodate a growing staff, large residential wings were later added and today they comprise the Gibson Building.  Windy Brae Club benefits include:

Mt. Airy Club ($100 - $249)

Mt. Airy was the 340-acre farm that was purchased in 1857 by the Board of Trustees of The Sheppard Asylum. Much of the first year was spent selecting sites for buildings, planning roads and planting trees, many of which stand at majestic heights today.  Mt. Airy Club benefits include:

  • Recognition on annual giving donor display on Towson campus
  • Invitation to Annual Meeting in the Fall

Gatehouse Society - Recognition of cumulative giving

The Gatehouse Society recognizes those whose philanthropy places them at the vanguard of Sheppard Pratt supporters.  When a donor’s cumulative giving reaches $10,000, he or she will be invited to join The Gatehouse Society, whose members receive permanent, public recognition of their generosity on a beautiful, custom-made donor wall off the main lobby of The Weinberg Building, our Towson hospital.  Gatehouse Society members receive invitations to special events and personal communications from the President of Sheppard Pratt.  Members are recognized at the following giving levels:

  • Moses Sheppard Society ($1 million and above)
  • Enoch Pratt Society ($500,000 - $999,999)
  • President’s Society ($250,000 - $499,000)
  • Charter Society ($100,000 - $249,000)
  • Friends Society ($50,000 - $99,999)
  • Tower Society ($25,000 - $49,999)
  • Cupola Society ($10,000 - $24,999)

 

The 1853 Society - Recognition in perpetuity

The 1853 Society recognizes individuals who have provided for Sheppard Pratt Health System in their estate plans or who have established life income gifts.  Members of The 1853 Society receive invitations to special events and personal communications from the President of Sheppard Pratt.  We invite you to explore how to donate through a planned gift.
